Mar 16:17 “…they shall speak with new tongues…”
(NEW) kainós—of uncertain affinity; new (especially in FRESHNESS)
recently made, fresh, recent, unused, unworn (opposed to old, antiquated): new, which as recently made is superior to what it succeeds (THAYER”S GREEK LEXICON)
Are we speaking in new tongues? Once we receive them they are new, but just like anything else, new things get old. The word FRESHNESS jumped out to me in relation to our tongues. Are our tongues “FRESH?”
We get what we ask for and we have what we say. If I say “burgers” every time I go to the restaurant that’s what I will get. But if I add new words to my vocabulary like “fries, milkshake, salad, pizza, etc”, then the menu begins to open up and new things begin to be placed on my table.
Sometimes we can be praying the same tongues we’ve been praying for the last couple of years. As a result, our outcomes are limited to these expresions. Though they were new when we got them, there’s more to be expressed since this is a HEAVENLY LANGUAGE, devoid of limitations in its vocabulary, unlike ours.
As a church, our next great moves are based on what we are saying and requesting in the Spirit, starting with our tongues. Some of our tongues are still related to old or current moves. Though there was nothing wrong with those moves since they came from God, let’s make sure we don’t get stuck. Keep our hearts open so we can speak new things into creation through our tongues.
DO A TONGUES CHECK🤔
Listen to your tongues. Are you speaking in the same tongues you were years ago, months ago, yesterday? Ask God to CHANGE THEM. Do you usually have mostly the same consonant or vowel sound…ask God to CHANGE THEM. Then open your mouth in faith and begin to speak.
Diversities of tongues have been inherently placed into the DNA of the church body according to 1 Cor. 12:28. Let’s unlock these realities and allow our tongues to speak the new mysteries of God, making them known to creation, thus birthing new things into being.
