John 5:30
I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
dzay-teh’-o; of uncertain affinity; to seek (literally or figuratively); specially, (by Hebraism) to worship (God), or (in a bad sense) to plot (against life):—be (go) about, desire, endeavour, enquire (for), require, (X will) seek (after, for, means).
Thayer’s Greek Lexicon: seek in order to find
When we pray we should ALWAYS seek the desire of God. Seeking what He desires ensures us that the choices we are making are the right ones. There are things that the Father desires for ALL OF US to do. Whether it’s career, family, church assignment, relationship, etc, God has an “opinion” about it. Once we get His opinion we have something to compare our our opinions with. This let’s us know if we are making a choice he agrees with or not. This is where the “SEEK” comes in. When we are “SEEKING” Jesus, we are going after the heart of one whose ONLY desire is to fulfill the “will” (desire) of the one who sent Him. This means every time we come to prayer we come with an attitude that the most IMPORTANT thing in that time is discovering the desire of the Father and praying for that desire to be enacted. This is why praying the Word is so important since the Father’s desire is found within His Word.
This posture of the heart will help us to hear Jesus more accurately and move in the direction He is moving in. This is a season to SEEK Jesus like never before because there are things that WILL NOT be given by Him UNLESS they are sought out. Let Jesus awaken the “SEEK” in you today!
Prayer:
Holy Spirit testify of the truth in my heart today. Awaken the seed of the “seeker” that the Word planted in me before the foundation of this world. I want to seek Jesus with all my heart, all my soul, and all my mind. Light my candle to seek you and thank You for what I will find in Jesus’s name! May I NEVER stop seeking you Jesus! Ignite me to seek you more! Revive me to seek you more! Hallelujah!
